Abstract Metakaolinte-based geopolymeric cement was successfully synthesized using compound activator composed of sodium silicate solution and sodium hydroxide solution at room temperature. The reaction mechanism of the geopolymeric cement was studied by XRD and IR. The shape of the geopolymeric cement was observed using SEM. The result shows that geopolymeric reaction is occurred when metakaolinte is activated by the compound solution of sodium silicate and sodium hydroxide, and the amorphous geopolymeric cement with layer structure and combination water is then formed. Its mechanical strength and apparent density increase along with the increase of concentration of allkali in the actrvator.
